Outreach Program by the Primary boys at the old Aged home.

29th November 2016 was a special and fruitful day for the 21 students of std IV, who visited the inmates of the St.Joseph old aged home at Uccassaim village accompanied by three staff Tr.Srita, Sir Joel and Tr.Evelyn.

The journey began from school at 11.00 am and reached Uccassaim at 11.30 am. Sister Magdalene welcomed us and introduced us to the inmates who were eagerly waiting for us. The students and the teachers personally greeted each inmate and had a good chat with each one of them, further all sang songs, shared jokes, took pictures and had a hearty time together.

We presented the gifts (food grains and toiletries) that were given by the students of class 3 and 4.

‘All good things have an end....’so did this wonderful programme.The inmates appreciated our presence with them and asked us to visit again.

We left from the old aged home at 12.30 pm and reached school at 12.50 pm

Snake show

St Britto High School eco club organised a SNAKE SHOW for the Vtd stds and its eco club members. Amrut Singh who is working in the field of animal rescue was the resource person for this programme. Along with a PPT, live snakes were also shown to the boys. this show was to instill into the students a love for snakes and to overcome their fear towards them.

The consumer club organised a consumer awareness programme for its consumer club members. The students had a PPT competition on consumer rights and responsibilities.

Children Day Celebration.

Battle of bands

St. Britto High School,Mapusa organized “ the battle of bands “ for their students on 5th October in the school hall. The competition was held mainly to bring about the musical talents of the students. After initial selection six groups were selected to compete with each other. Each group had to sing three songs. One in Kokanni and the other two either both in English or one in hindi. Each group had 15 minutes to perform which included stage setting.

Talented music artists Wellington Fernandes, Moses Vaz and Bernard D’Souza were the judges for the competition. The instruments used were as follows:- key board, guitar, violin, drum, table, flute,. The students displayed such talents in music that it totally surprised the judges.

Christmas Day Celebration.

Christmas day was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in the school  on 22nd December.The dress code for the day was black pant with any Christmas colour shirt/t-shirt. The day began with the morning assembly, this included,a tableau, prayer service, skit and Christmas Carols.It ended up with the welcoming of Santa Claus. The students had a talent search and creativity board competition on any Christmas theme.The primary students had various party games on the school ground.The staff had their Christmas get together in the school hall.

Christmas Carol Competition

In keeping to the spirit of Christmas, an inter class carol singing competition was held on the 21st December in the school hall. Each class had to sing two carols, one in English and one in konkani.

Orientation Program for School Staff

On the 11th of Dec 2015,The staff of St.Britto High School attended a workshop conducted by Mr.Lester Fernandes and his team .It was based on creative teaching skills. From the start  Mr.Lester Fernandes and his team kept the staff on their toes.Every minute of the morning was very interesting and meaningful.

Christmas special football match

A football match was played between staff/students v/s SSC students on 16th Dec on the school football ground. The much awaited game was exciting and well cheered by our students. Students displayed their enthusiasm by bringing FC Goa flags thus making the stadium colourful. The SSC students began in a full flow and scored two quick goals. The staff/students team recovered from this setback and equalized before half time. The second half saw both the teams playing an attacking game and giving their best but could not score. The game was decided on the tie-breaker. The staff/Students team kept their cool and experience and managed to get the better of the SSC students.
The game was well managed and controlled by our referee and a parent of our school Mr Hector Trinidade. The school thanks him for his time and sacrifice made to be the referee.
During the interval break the lady staff had a penalty kick competition. They were to kick the ball in the goal from a distance of 30 meters. After the second round the Mrs Anne won the competition.

2nd October Swachha Bharat day

The day started with the morning assembly on the life and inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi.This was followed by the cleanliness drive in our school. Staff and students worked together to clean and maintain cleanliness in the campus, class rooms and the surroundings.

OBA Football

The OBA of St. Britto High School, Mapusa along with St, Britto High School, Mapusa organized the under 14 annual Pedro Arrupe invitational football tournament. Don Bosco High School, Panaji won the finals. Loyola High School, Margao were the runners up.

SSC  retreat

Our SSC catholic boys attended a retreat organized by the Lights of the world movement at the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa.

Annual PTA Meet, 2015

The PTA held its annual PTA meet, 2015-16 on 22nd August for the primary section and on 29th August for the secondary section. Dr. Siddesh Parab the guest speaker addressed the parents of the primary section on the topic “Personal Hygiene” to the parents of the secondary section he enlightened them on the implementation of the “Folic acid/iron supplementation programme of the Government of Goa.” Both the meetings were well attended. The Headmaster thanked the PTA for all the support given to improve the infrastructure of the school. A PowerPoint Presentation on the activities held during the year was shown to the parents. The primary students staged a prayer dance while the secondary students staged a hip hop dance. Both the groups were trained by the Snedan/Shawn Dance Academy. The PTA also felicitated 47 distinction holders of last year’s SSC batch. The Headmaster launched the school web site. The school is grateful to the Mapusa Health Centre for sending their resource person, Dr. Siddesh Parab to address both the primary and the secondary parents.

Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola,2015

The feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola the founder of the Society of Jesus is celebrated every year in great festivities. This year the school organized a nine days novena during the morning assembly. The themes of the novenas were as follows---

  • St. Ignatius; Call and conversion
  • Finding God in all things
  • AMDG
  • Cura Personalis
  • Care for the Environment
  • Respect for other faiths
  • The gift of discernment
  • Promoting Justice

The novenas were organised under the leadership of Fr. Anand. The teachers along with the students, non class teachers, staff, non teaching and support staff took turns to conduct and organise the assemblies. Each novena was for a duration of 12 to 15 minutes.

An interclass chart making competition was held on 24th July. The topics were 1. On any one theme of the novenas days or 2. Life and inspiration of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The chart competition was held for the entire school and the charts were displayed on each class notice board.

The feast day mass was held in the morning. It was attended by parents and ex students along with all the catholic boys. The main celebrant was Fr. Tony Da Silva,SJ. A small token was given to each student.This was followed by a staff get together.


In the evening, the Jesuits of St. Brittos, along with their family members, benefactors, well wishers and religious staying in and around Mapusa met at to celebrate the feast. It was a joyous occasion since those that attended had an opportunity it interact with one another.

Cleanliness Drive

As part of our cleanliness drive, our Dy; Cm Mr Francis D’Souza visited our school and addressed the students on cleanliness. He is also an ex student of this institution and has helped the institution in various ways.

This year cleanliness drive in the school campus has been taken seriously. A special cleanliness committee consisting of staff and students has been formed. The NSS groups spend time to clean the campus daily. Cleanliness committee consisting of students are formed in each class.

This year the school has banned birthday celebrations of students in school. Lays and other plastic packets are prohibited in school. Inspite of all this, students still tend to dirty the campus. There is a very vast improvement in the campus and class cleanliness for the value of cleanliness upbringing is lacking in many of our families today.

Consumer Club Activity

The consumer club of St. Britto High School,Mapusa organized a consumer awareness programme for the consumer club members and the staff members. The guest speaker for the day was

Mr. Roland Martins a social activist and co-coordinator of the Goa Civic and consumer action network. He spoke about consumer rights under the consumer Protection Act 1986 and emphasised the need to "Consume with care."
The consumer club organised  chart making competition for its members on the following topics  1. Consumer-The king of the market. 2.Healthy food habits and 3. Consumer rights.

Eco Club

The Eco – Club of St Britto High School inaugurated the new academic year with an organised eco trip to corjuem fort , cable bridge & The Pompurpa spring. Around 50 boys participated in this trip. 
 As part of the eco trip,  the students did some cleaning work in an around the vicinity of the fort and the spring. It was like a life time experience  where they could directly interact with nature. Banners were prepared to make the people aware of maintaining cleanliness and preserving the environment. Meanwhile the eco club has chalked out a number of activities for the year.

SSC Farewell & Passing Out Parade

The SSC farewell is a much awaited programme that any SSC student looks forward to. Prior to the passing out programme, the SSC students conduct their last assembly and give a gift to the school. This is followed by a meaningful thanksgiving Eucharist held in the school chapel for all the students and a get together in the school hall. This get together is organized by the IX std class teachers and students.

The next day is the solemn passing out parade which is a tradition of a Jesuit school. It was a well attended programme. As the students march out solemnly for the last time, tears roll down, as they bring back memories of the school which they will soon miss once they step out of the portals of this institution.
